Food

Our aim is to provide good, wholesome home cooked food with a variety to suit all. Every meal is cooked to order, and we offer choices to suit everyone - most of our main courses are offered as a small or regular size meal to suit differing appetites. We always offer a selection of vegetarian dishes, which are carefully prepared to avoid contact with any form of meat products. We are happy to cater for any other special dietary requirements, e.g. Vegan, nut allergy, etc. so please call us to discuss your exact need with our chef.

Our food serving times are as follows:-

    Tuesday to Saturday      12:00 - 2:30          6:30 - 9:00
    Sunday                         12:00 - 2:30   Full Menu (No Fajitas) or Roast of the day.

There will also be “Specials” displayed on the chalkboards during Full Menu hours.

Starters

Home-made Roast Vegetable Soup
Served with crusty bread. Suitable for vegetarians.

Home-made Mushroom & Whiskey Soup
Served with crusty bread. Suitable for vegetarians.

Home-made Liver & Pork Paté
A smooth paté served with toast and butter and a salad garnish.


Main Courses

Gammon Steak
A gammon steak grilled and served with chips, fresh pineapple, fried egg and peas.

Hot Sizzling Fajitas
Strips of chicken breast, onion and peppers cooked in chef’s special spicy sauce. This house speciality arrives at your table on a sizzling platter and is served with tortilla wraps, natural yogurt, grated cheese and salsa. For two to share or an individual serving.

Hot Vegetarian Fajitas
As above, but meat free, with a wider selection of pan fried vegetables.                   Suitable for vegetarians.

8 oz Sirloin Steak
Finest Sirloin steak grilled to order. Accompanied by pan-fried button mushrooms, vine tomatoes, onion rings, chips and peas.

Moroccan Vegetable Tagine
Chef’s selection of exotic vegetables in a mildly spiced stock, served with parsley cous-cous and lemon wedges. Suitable for vegetarians.

Scampi
A generous serving of breaded Scampi served with chips, peas and lemon wedges.


Children and Lighter Appetites

All our main meals may be served in smaller portions suitable for those with a lighter appetite or for children. In addition to the above, we are happy to provide chicken nuggets or fish fingers served with either chips or smiley faces, accompanied with either sweet corn, peas or baked beans.

Our children’s menu comes especially recommended by Jessica & Christina (Chefs 7 & 6 year old daughters).

In addition to our standard menu our specials board, which can change daily, has recently included:-

Garlic Mushrooms
Fresh button mushrooms fried in garlic & herb butter. Served with garlic mayonnaise
Suitable for vegetarians.

Broccoli & Stilton Soup
Home-made soup served with rustique bread roll and butter. Suitable for vegetarians.

Smoked Haddock
A prime haddock fillet smoked in the Brixham smoke house, poached in milk and served with new potatoes, green beans and foaming Hollandaise sauce.

Caramelised Onion & Cheese Quiche
Home-made quiche with caramelised onions and vegetarian Cheddar cheese. Served with rice salad, home-made coleslaw and salad garnish. Suitable for vegetarians.

A delicious selection of ice cream from Grange Farm, Hilton

Home-made Treacle Sponge
Served with custard.

Chocolate Mudslide
A crispy biscuit base with layers of chocolate sauce, home-made chocolate mousse and cream.

All meat featured on this menu is from Martin Thomas Family Butchers of Pattingham and all other ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible.
